During the storms of Hurricane Ike one of the large trees by the bridge and on the riverbank was blown over and crushed one of the Lion's. With the help from many the city was able to purchase a new lion and refurbish the remaining three. They recently were reinstalled in the rightful home on the bridge. Before the 4th of July parade Grand Marshall of the Parade, Sloan Henderson, cut the ribbon for the re-dedication and to kick off the Independence Day festivities.
