You Are Here: Home - Boys Varsity Baseball , District Champs , Franklin High School - Franklin Wildcats Baseball District Champs....again...

May 23, 2010

The Franklin High School Varsity Baseball team is in a familiar position as last year...District Champs!  The Cats lost 5 seniors from last years team and their 13-14 record is not a record that would translate to District Champs.  This years Cats pounded Carlisle late in the season, battled it out with Fenwick, and trounced Kenton Ridge for the second straight year.  This year's Cats have come together strong at the right time.  Just as the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are doing in the NBA Playoffs the Franklin Wildcats are winning when it counts...in the post season!

Yesterday, Franklin took a 10 run 2nd inning explosion to victory! They batted around for nine hits and an exclamation mark Grand Slam by Spencer Matthews!  Jordan Pergrem was his usual stellar self in pitching from the mound for the Cats.  He went six innings with 10 Strikeouts.

Franklin will now move on to the Regional Semifinals against Cincinnati McNicholas.  They will play Thursday at 2pm at the University of Dayton Time Warner Stadium.  McNicholas is very similiar to Franklin with an 11-13 record they are hitting strides at the right time, as well.  McNicholas defeated Tippancanoe in the District Finals 5-2.

GO CATS!!
