May 20, 2010

The Franklin High School Varsity Baseball team seemed to be down and out of their Sectional Final game versus Fenwick High School.  Fenwick took a commanding 4-0 lead through the top of 4 innings.  But the Wildcats swapped out pitchers and regrouped.  In the bottom of the 4th inning, The Cats loaded up the bases and Nate Hunt smacked a hard hit to center sending in Franklin's first run.  After a few bunts, squeezes Franklin tied up the the score in the bottom of the 4th 4-4.

Then in the 5th, new pitcher Cody Blackford struck out the first two batters and then got into a bit of trouble giving up one run in the inning.  Fenwick was back on top 5-4.  Franklin then gritted it out and regained the lead on the pitching of Blackford.  Blackford and The Cats closed the Fenwick Falcons out in the top of the 7th with the final score 8-6.

The game was exciting to experience!  It was truly a hard earned, well coached, and gritty win for the Cats!  Franklin moves on to play the Urbana Lower Sectional winner between Bellefontaine and Kenton Ridge on Saturday, May 22 at 11:00am at Mason High School.

GO CATS!!!  SECTIONAL CHAMPS!!
