Brandi McDaniel sat today in the Media Center at Franklin High School a bit nervous in front of her family, teachers, friends, coaches, and media.  But McDaniel is definitely prepared for taking her game to the next level.  But with the support from her parents Terry and Nancy Baker and Sister Randi she moves on to the next part of her life.

McDaniel, today, signed a letter of commitment to play for the University of Northwestern Ohio next year.  Brandi thanked her family for all of their support and help in her journey as a basketball player for the Franklin Wildcats.  She thanked her high school basketball coach, Frank Russell and her AAU coach Jim Deaton for their help in her development over the years.

University of Northwestern OhioMcDaniel connected with UNOH through her AAU coach.  Deaton was able to connect Brandi and her family with Coach Rick Bowersock of UNOH.  She had her choices of colleges narrowing them down to UNOH, Rio Grande, and Heidelberg College.  Brandi's choice was hard but she said,  "She felt like it was a good fit and she fitted in better at UNOH."

UNOH is definitely getting a game changer.  In her four years at Franklin, the power forward, leaves as the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder.  She averaged a double-double for her whole career averaging 16.01 points a game and 11.1 rebounds a game.  She also was a punishing defender having 252 blocked shots over her career.  That is 2.9 blocks a game!  If that isn't enough Brandi holds 10 Total Franklin High School Girls Basketball School Records.  That type of determination and effort has been amazing to watch around Franklin.

We wish Brandi all the luck in the world as she finishes one chapter of her life at Franklin High School and starts a new chapter at University Northestern Ohio. Brandi leaves for school around July and classes start up September 13th.  She has chosen to major in Sports Management!
